A Rare Meiji Japanese Gourd Caddy :

The gourd vegetable is the inspiration for Japanese decorative arts, porcelain, metalwork, painting and woodwork. Our Japanese Gourd Caddy follows this in its purest form – a dried gourd. This may seem obvious however it is actually extremely rare.

The appearance of which is made more perfect by the application of taka-maki-e lacquer in gold and silver and beautiful glossy Nashiji lacquer on the interior speckled with gold and silver foil suspended in layers of pristine glossy lacquer.

This is a wonderful and very rare piece of superb Japanese lacquer and remains in excellent condition.
