Paul Sormani Ormolu Wall Clock in Lapis Lazuli and Gold
Born in Venice, Paul Sormani (1817-1877) was a cabinetmaker and supplier of exceptional work of art. His gallery was based at 7 cemetery Saint Nicolas, then in 1854 at 114 rue du Temple, then in 1867 at 10 rue Charlot in Paris. He won a bronze medal in 1849 at the exposition of the Second Republic in Paris.
His style is based on the 18th century and he made a broad range of exceptional pieces for private collectors as well as the court including The Empress Eugenie, wife of Napoleon III.
