Charles Voisin, mid 18th-century bracket cartel clock, the green backed horn veneer “Corne Verte” case with glass front and sides and gilt bronze rococo mounts applied. The white enamel dial signed CHARLES VOISIN A PARIS with blue Roman numerals divided by gilt metal inclusions, the dial with a chapter ring and blued steel hands.

A 18th Century Louis XV Bracket Cartel Clock by Charles Voisin, Paris

Another clock by Charles Voisin (1685 – 1761) which shares the same clock hands and near identical signature is in the Getty collection, Los Angeles.

Charles Voisin’s father was a gardener to the King and was able to afford his family a comfortable life and the opportunities to succeed in life. Charles’ own children went on to marry noblemen and his youngest son was made one of the king’s personal valets, which raised him into the nobility.
