A fabulous pair of Grand Antique Candelabra. Made during the reign of French Emporer Napoleon III.

These 19th-century ormolu Grand Antique Candelabra each have an astonishing nine candle arms. Hence, they would be perfect for any grand entrance hall or dining room. Eighteen candles burning would give plenty of light for an evening banquet.

Furthermore, the rarity of these cannot be overstated, such extravagant design was restricted to the wealthiest French households. They date to the reign of Emporer Napoleon III in France, he reigned from 1852 to 1870.

This period in French antique / decorative arts history is famous for the lavish ornament of grand interiors. Taking inspiration from the previous centuries, some of the most sensitive interiors were created.

The candelabra are beautifully cast in bronze which is gold plated. In addition, the bases are inset with panels of antique polished Breche Violette marble which was sourced from the town Serravezza, near the Carrara region in Italy.

Consequently, these candelabra would have been owned by a wealthy family, either in a grand Paris townhouse, or perhaps a Chateau or castle in the countryside.
