This magnificent table is carved from & veneered in the most beautiful richly figured Rosewood you could wish to see and incorporates one of the rarest tops ever created on an English piece. The design of both the top & table complement each other to perfection. With an exceptionally well carved and beautifully designed rectangular radiused corner top, with a running gadrooned edge surrounding the most fabulous Hard Stone inset platform, with rare specimens including, gem quality Lapis Lazuli, Pyrite Lapis Lazuli, Siberian Amethyst, Malachite, Green Aventurine, Agate of Amethyst, Egyptian Porphyry, Greek Spartan Porphyry, Labradorite, Fossilised Wood, Occhio di Pavone, Brèche verte d’Égypte, Sicilian Jaspers, Blood Stone, Spanish Brocatelle, Siena Brocatelle, Convent Siena & Nero Antico amongst others. With each being superbly framed in Brass & being inset directly into the Rosewood veneered top, making this masterpiece from Gillows have one of the rarest English tables ever created. The apron having two drawers, fitted with elegantly turned Rosewood handles and two faux drawers to the obverse. On free-standing, turned carved and tapering end support form, the base on each bi-partite end support with beaded edge leading to the most beautiful and powerfully drawn carved shell scrolled paw feet with concealed casters.
From an Important Titled Estate where is has been since it was commissioned. In excellent condition commensurate with its age & use. A Museum masterpiece.
