Italian Rococo Bombe Commode - Parquetry - Mid 18th Century

Italian Rococo Bombe Commode

The bombe shape of this Italian Rococo Bombe Commode is one of the hardest forms for a cabinet maker to achieve. Here, it is achieved with great sophistication with a beautiful outline and complex combination of parquetry and marquetry. It is clearly by an outstanding Italian cabinet maker.

This is a very fine example of 18th Century Italian furniture in excellent condition with a great colour and patina. Having been recently restored using traditional methods in our workshop. The bombe parquetry panels are very decorative using the grain of the veneer to best effect.

This is an elegant Italian Bombe Commode, sans traverse (meaning no dividing bar between the drawers), means the outline of the commode is less complicated and allows for a more flowing uninterrupted design.  Sans Traverse commodes of this model were highly sought in the 18th century across Europe, the rococo design originating in France under Louis XV.

Our Italian Rococo Bombe Commode has original mounts and fabulous shaped and molded marble top.
