A rare pair of boris durci plaques of the Royal couple Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, each stamped verso "Bois Durci" and mounted in gilt metal frames.

Francois Lepage patented the bois durci technique which is a hard highly polish-able composition which is pressed and polished to appear like bronze. Bois durci is fine sawdust mixed with blood or some times egg whites.
